Chapel Hill Project: Craftsman Contemporary House
This Craftsman Contemporary House was in need of an update and a more open layout with better lighting. On the exterior, a new expansive multi-level front porch was added with a unique cable railing. A new pergola was also added.
In the interior, a wall was removed and the kitchen was relocated and reoriented. The new kitchen features craftsman style cabinets, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances.
In the living area, an air return was relocated to allow for a more open layout. The stairs were replaced with a modern, open staircase. The fireplace was reworked with new stone, and rich wood floors were added. These changes give the ski lodge feel to the living room that our clients were seeking.
In the basement, a mudroom and bathroom were added with a rubber floor for mud, snow and the dog. The “Man Cave” now has room for the billiard table and theater room.
The updated hall bath now features floating cabinets and a modern vessel sink. The master bedroom ceiling was vaulted and new windows and a doorway leading outdoors were added. The master bathroom was relocated and enlarged and features a free-standing tub, large shower and double vanity with open storage.
