1990’s Home Update and Expansion
Project Overview
This 1992 home reflected the common compartmentalized layout of that decade. The homeowners were ready for an open concept kitchen expansion and update of dated features. An addition was added to the rear of the kitchen and several walls were removed to create an open floor plan. The sun room opening was put on a forty-five to allow for a large cased opening. A powder room was relocated and a master closet was added onto the side of the house. A large rooftop patio was also added with access to both levels of the home and to their backyard and pool.
No expense was spared in the kitchen finishes and fixtures which now boasts custom walnut cabinets, gorgeous granite countertops, stone backsplash, custom copper hood, custom lighting, and Dacor appliances including a 48” refrigerator, drop-in induction cook top, dishwasher, double oven, warming drawer and U-line ice maker.
The family room fireplace was also updated with a new field stone surround and mantel from Raleigh Reclaimed. The stairs were opened up to the kitchen area and new iron and wood railings and new treads were installed. There are many other features and updates that bring this home into the 2020’s and transform it into an entertainment mecca for events with family and friends.
