Complete Kitchen Renovation: The Collins Home
Type: Kitchen Remodeling
The homeowner wanted to update her home with a complete kitchen renovation. She had lived in the home with the original kitchen cabinets since the house was built in 1969. She wanted more room, updated cabinets and appliances and a new look for her kitchen. During the design process, we provided her with the option of adding a new gathering room off of the kitchen. She carefully weighed her options and decided to add the gathering room. This design allowed us to enlarge the kitchen foot print which provided space for an island. We were also able to add a small pantry in the new space and relocate her laundry room to the kitchen area from the basement. Adding the gathering room also provided additional basement space that can be finished in the future. Energy efficient windows and skylights were added to the gathering room to bring in more natural light to the space.
With the new layout and increased space, the function of the kitchen improved dramatically. One of her favorite new features is all of the light that now pours into the new kitchen and gathering room. She decided to go ahead and replace all of her floors with hardwood and repaint the whole house inside and out so the whole house would feel new.
