A Note from Barry - Celebrating Four New Star Awards
We are celebrating the win of four STAR Awards in August! This annual competition gives us the opportunity to show off some of our projects and compete with other remodelers in several categories. Each project is judged by a panel of experts who work in the industry in other geographical areas of the state. Their scores make up 85% of the total score. Also weighing with 15% of the score is the homeowner through a homeowner’s survey. This year marked the 18th Annual STAR Awards with more than 130 projects entered. A gala was held August 25th at the Renaissance Hotel in North Hills where awards were presented.
As always, we want to thank our clients who gave us the opportunity to be a part of implementing their dreams for their homes and allowing us to showcase the culmination of our joint efforts. I would like to give a brief description and picture of each award winner.
Winning the Gold STAR Award for Best Bathroom $30,001-$45,000, is the Buckley’s master bathroom. The original location of the master bath was less than ideal on the front of the house. It was re-located to the rear of the home which allowed the master bedroom ceiling to be vaulted and slightly enlarged with a cantilever on the front of the house that included a new gable roof, adding to the home’s curb appeal. We put the “master” into the new master bathroom – before it lacked space, function and beauty – now it is a beautiful oasis with its clean lines and spa features.
Winning the Gold STAR Award for Best Sunroom is the Schudy’s new sunroom. The sunroom flows from the family room through new French doors with transoms and sidelights and features a beautiful travertine floor appropriately named Sunset. The sunroom integrates beautifully into the hardscaping and offers a panoramic view of the pool and backyard.
Winning the Silver STAR Award for the Best Kitchen $80,001-$110,000 is the Harris’s kitchen. The Harris’s love to entertain and enjoy having all of their family over during the holidays, but their existing floor plan was not very accommodating. The kitchen was adequate but not very open to the family room. To open up their existing home and provide a much better flow and function, several walls were removed and a steal beam was installed. Also, the existing screened porch was incorporated into the space.
Many beautiful selections were made that really came together well. They chose red oak cabinets with a chestnut stain and brown glaze on some of the cabinets and an espresso stain on others. They chose Giallo Napoli granite for countertops. The banquette was built to match the cabinets. In addition, a new entry into the kitchen from the foyer was custom-made to match the cabinet design, which draws guests into the kitchen and completes the room’s appeal. The new open space is perfect for entertaining and for making new memories with family and friends.
Last, but not least, our website received the Gold STAR Award for Best Website.
