A Note From Barry- Our Featured Project
This month I want to feature a renovation project that we recently compelted. The homeowners contacted us in the hopes that we might be able to accomplish their lengthy list of goals for their home. They purchased hte home because they loved the convenience of its Chapel Hill location and its heavily wooded lot. They liked its contemporary design and found it "architecturally interesting" in comparision with other plan-looking homes on the market. They lovingly called it the "Tree House" because its cantilevered porch elevated it into the canopy of tress. They wanted to remodel the home and play up the contemporary and craftsman influences. Their list of rooms to remodel included the kitchen which they wanted to modernize, the living space which was cut up and needed to be opened up for their family and friends to father, the three bathrooms needed updating the master bedroom needed more light and access to the outdoors. They also wanted to add a mudroom and small bathroom on the main living level, remodel the basement aka "Man Cave" and add additional garage parking space for their motorcycle.
There were a few designs and construction challenges which we overcame with stunnign results! Number one, our clients love it and still like us as much at the end of the experience as they did at the beginning (hopefully more)-- and give us glowing recommendations. THey were amazed at the speed of their project's completion and are extremely happy now with all their goals for their home met culminating in their home becoming the "go to" house for theirchildren and their friends to hang out. They have enjoyed great holiday gatherings and a super bowl party at their home and have received nothing compliments on the whole house.

The main living area is now open, bright and airy. This was accomplished by removing the kitchen wall and installing a beam, relocating the kitchen and replacing the stairs with a modern, open staircase. THe kitchen renovation included new craftsman style cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. THe fireplace was reworked with new stone and rich wood floors were added to the give the ski lodge feel to the living room that our clients were seeking. A mudroom and bathroom were added with a rubber floor for mud, snow and the dog. THe bathroom and a wall were moved in the basement to give additional space for the home theater, billiad table and garthering room. The hall abth was update to their concept of having a more open space with a see-through window in the shower, floating cabinets and modern vessel sink. The master bedroom is now a relaxing open space with lots of light after vaulting the ceiling and adding additional windows and a doorway to their side ard. We relocated the master bathroom and made it truly a master-- before it lacked space, function and beauty-- now it is a beautiful oasis with its clean lines and spa features.
The pictures on this page and the next speak for themselves. We feel very blessed to have been a part of this home transformation.Read the full story here.
